Retired Educator | Children's Book Author

Meet Dana!

Dana Royster-Buefort is a retired educator, educational consultant, adoptive mother, and children’s book author whose lifelong passion for teaching and storytelling inspires her work. After more than three decades in education, including years teaching inner-city youth, she continues to nurture young minds through books that celebrate culture, creativity, and learning.

Inspired by her love of music and family history, Dana wrote Happy Music: A New Orleans Jazz Story to introduce children to the joy of jazz while encouraging them to explore the connection between music, movement, and self-expression. Through her stories, she hopes to spark curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning in children everywhere.

Educators, librarians, and community leaders are invited to schedule an author visit for an engaging read-aloud experience that brings music, storytelling, and creative learning to life for young audiences.
